How To Handle Stress from Relatives & Social Media

Here continues a summary of my posts on how to recover as quickly as possible from stress and exhaustion.

In my daily work with people who have sought help for problems with stress and fatigue, I have been able to distinguish 3 building blocks in stress management:

1) Regulate your stress level, se techniques in earlier post

2) Handle stress sources

3) Use stress management habits

When it comes to the second building block, handle stress sources, there are several important areas:
-Self-image and values
-Thoughts & Pacing
-At Home
-At Work

Today the post continues with stress in relationships.

Well-intended relatives can contribute to elevator the stress-level by wanting to keep in touch frequently and at times that are stressful.

Hence, it is important to talk to your relatives about your situation, needs and wishes, and make a formal agreement.

Make an agreement over how often you will keep in touch. Some relatives become more calm when there is an agreement to communicate on a particular day as well as when not to get in touch.

Another major source of stress is social contacts through social media. Research have repeatedly shown how addictive these updates can be.

Therefore, it is important to take control of your social contacts / media: which media, in what way, how often, when, how long.
