How To Accomplish Forgotten Goals By Chunking Them Into Smaller Pieces

Today’s post continues with inspirational quotes to trigger reflective thoughts, here finalizing the posts about the importance of taking the first step NOW:

”Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together” Vincent Van Gogh

“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop” Confucius

“Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only of standing still” Chinese Proverb

Last week’s post was about important goals that we might have been putting off because it will take a lot of effort to achieve it, and hence we will not be able to reach that goal.

If you still want to reach your goal, the first thing is to really detail your goal – what are the necessary steps in order to obtain your goal.

It is important to split up your goals in more manageable pieces.

Some strategies are:

– Split up your goal over time, i.e. have a fixed scheduled time allocated every day, preferably directly when you wake up – even small chunks like 5 minutes matter and add up

– Split up your goal in quantity – how much you will produce, for example how many pages to read, how many words to write, how many drawers to sort, how many words to learn in another language etc.

– Detail you goal by making sub-steps specifying each activity which then becomes your to-do list. You can do this by asking yourself: what can I do right now, what is the next step after that and so on.

Then start with the first step already today!
